Here's a recent email I sent out with what's new with me. I will start updating again soon.
Do you ever step back for a few seconds, and think to yourself, How
>in the
>world did I get where I am? What has brought me to this place?
>
> I have been thinking that a fair bit these last few days.
>In fact
>these last few months for me have had a lot of new experiences. And
>I know
>that I've been away from many of you a lot, and haven't kept in
>touch as I
>should and so I thought I'd just send an email to let you guys know
>what's
>been going on in my life lately. Haha and if you think that that's
>self-centered (me talking all about myself in this email) then just
>reply
>with a friendly rebuke and I'll do my best to change ;).
>
> I guess that I'll start with greece, during my time at
>Millar
>college of the Bible in Pambrun, Saskatchewan I really felt God's
>leading to
>go on a missions trip to Greece. I kept putting it off because I
>knew that I
>wanted to go to down to North Carolina for bible college next year
>and I
>didn't think I would have enough money if I did that. But finally
>after a
>missions conference at Millar I realized that God could provide and
>so I
>applied. Throughout the trip God provided in so many ways it was
>amazing.
>
> My time in Greece was amazing. I got to help prepare their
>sailboat at a shipyard for about a week and a half. We painted and
>sanded
>and sandblasted and did all sorts of other things. The team was
>incredibly
>nice. Then I got to help with some meals for refugees in Greece and
>worship
>nights. I helped one day at their office and then the rest of the
>time I was
>at a property the mission had. We prepared it for a summer camp. As
>well as
>Operation Gideon 2, a time when they went out to half of the
>inhabited
>islands of Greece and distributed 30,000 New Testaments and other
>christian
>literature. I met so many cool people who had a fire and passion for
>God. A
>lot of good memories. Haha one of my favourite was wrestling on this
>floating dock that they had on the mediterannean sea. The best part
>of my
>trip was probably developing consistency in my walk with God. We had
>quiet
>time with God every morning and as we worked many times some of the
>people
>working there would just start praying. The coolest answer to prayer
>was for
>an albanian guy named Arturo. He had been waiting for 7 months for a
>green
>card so that he could go back and forth from Greece to Albania. But
>it
>looked like it might be another half a year. Then while we were
>there he
>found out that his son was very sick and near death. So we just
>gathered
>around him and prayed that he would get a green card and his son
>would get
>better. And it was absolutely incredible how God worked because
>within 24
>hours his green card arrived and his son took a good turn for the
>better.
>The weird thing was though that I never even realized how God had
>exactly
>answered our requests until a few hours later. I think so many times
>I miss
>thanking God for answered prayer because I don't watch out for when
>he does
>it.
>But God really gave me a lot more confidence in him that trip.
>
>3 days after I got back I started working as a cabin leader at
>dallas valley
>ranch camp. This is a really precious place to me because I have
>either
>worked there or been a camper for the last ten years and for youth
>group
>retreats we would go out there so a lot of special memories. But
>yeah this
>summer was amazing, every week was really great. The last one though
>I could
>honestly say was one of the best weeks of my life. I got to lead
>worship a
>few nights and at campfire, so that was really cool. But the best
>part was
>just how for some reason my cabin and I connected and two guys
>decided to
>become missionaries that week and another guy in my cabin really met
>God.
>They encouraged me so much. I really feel like I left getting so
>much more
>out of that week than they did.
>
>Then I had two days until I got on the bus down to North Carolina to
>go to
>FIRE school of ministry. This school I had heard about after
>listening some
>sermons on fireonthealtar.com . I checked into it a lot and it
>looked really
>solid, and passionate for God to be glorified on the earth and lives
>transformed. It's a three year program to get a bachelor of
>practical
>ministry and it just looked like the most practical and suitable
>place where
>God could train me to become a missionary. So I took the bus for two
>and
>half days to get down there. That in itself was an adventure. I met
>some
>really neat people though. I talked with this one guy named shawn
>for about
>4 hours about life and faith and computer programming and running
>and all
>sorts of stuff. Going on the bus just opens up crazy oppurtunities
>to get to
>know people you never would normally. I talked with a girl from
>Bulgaria who
>was my age for about 5 hours. It was neat because Bulgaria is right
>beside
>Greece so i knew a lot more about it because of my trip. But yeah
>she was
>super nice but a nominal christian so I encouraged her to read her
>bible.
>Then when I was getting deep south I sat beside this one black woman
>with a
>big heart. Her name was Kenyata, she saw me memorizing Titus in a
>small
>booklet and she gave me her pocket new testament to read and said
>"this has
>got more books, It's always good to take the bible with you on a
>long trip".
>She has a five foot long Iguana named Elroy, and she feeds him sour
>cream
>and onion pringles and takes him for walks everywhere. Really
>interesting
>lady, when she found out I wanted to become a missionary she said
>"You're
>not going to be one of those people we got in Detroit that ride up
>to your
>house on a bike and read the bible to you are you?" I kind of
>laughed and
>said "you never know where God's gonna lead you".
>
> 3 days ago on Friday morning I finally arrived in Concord,
>North
>Carolina. It's been an incredible three days. I've met some of the
>godliest
>young men and woman that I have ever met. There is such an
>expectancy and
>faith for God to move here that it just blows me away. And God does
>move.
>Last night some guys from here went out witnessing on the streets of
>Concord
>and 3 people ended up getting healed. Two people actually were able
>to walk
>out of their wheelchairs totally healed from lameness! Hebrews 13:8
>says
>that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever. That text
>just
>came alive when I heard what happened. With such passion in a place
>I know
>that people sometimes fall into the trap of fanaticism so I am
>keeping watch
>that it stays biblical. But so far I have been just super excited at
>where
>God has led me. I want God to use me.
>
> So yeah, that's what's been happening in my life lately. I
>would
>love to hear back from every one of you what God has been doing with
>you.
>Thanks for being patient with this long email. I love you all in
>Christ. God
>bless you mightily this year as you seek to follow him. Peace out.
